What to expect

Turn up and get rolling

Big Woody's sessions are coached and supervised throughout, so it's a genuinely good spot for first-timers as well as regulars. Read on for the details on our Girls Only and Boys Only nights below.

All abilities

Never stood on a board before, or landing kickflips down the stairs — the whole park is open and coaches are on hand for anyone who wants a hand.

Safe & supervised

Sessions are run alongside qualified, DBS-checked coaches from Realskate Northwest, so parents and beginners alike can relax and enjoy it.

Boards to try for free

Bring your own board and pads if you've got them — free skateboards are also available on the night for anyone who'd like to try one out.

Two nights, one mission

Girls & Boys Skateboard Only Nights

We've introduced a Boys Only Beginners/Novice night alongside our long-running Girls Only Night, so we now welcome both male and female skaters to a session built just for them.

Both nights are aimed at beginners and novices — so if you're already kickflipping the euro gap, please bear that in mind. We hope the Boys Only night grows to follow the success of the Girls Only night.

Girls Only Skateboard Nights

Since 2020, Girls Only Skateboard Nights have been bringing together girls and women of all ages and skill levels for an empowering, inclusive evening of skateboarding at Ramp City Skatepark, Blackpool. Sessions are held once a month, usually on the last Monday, although dates may vary slightly around bank holidays — so be sure to check ahead before visiting.

Our mission is simple: to create a safe, welcoming and supportive space where girls can learn, progress and connect through skateboarding. Whether you're stepping on a board for the first time or refining your tricks, these nights are for you. Free skateboards are available for anyone who'd like to try one out on the night.

Experienced skateboard coaches are usually on hand to offer tips and guidance, and the atmosphere is all about fun, encouragement and community. Over the years these nights have grown into a beloved event — it's not unusual to see new faces leave with big smiles and new friends.

Session details

6pm – 9pm Every session, usually the last Monday of the month
£6 entry Includes free entry into our raffle on the night

Raffle prizes are generously donated by brands including Fracture Skateboards, Live Like Ralph and Tech Deck. All proceeds go directly to supporting Ramp City Skatepark and keeping these nights running.

Since closing our shop, these nights are now run in association with Realskate Northwest, who Woody now works alongside.
